A visit to Aruvikkara Dam

Recently I visited Aruvikkara Dam. I reached there on a Saturday morning, I was surprised to see that these is hardly any tourist there. Nothing is there to attract the tourists. Other than the Dam there are no facilities available, not even a toilet. No shops are available in the near by location, a badly maintained ice cream parlour is the only shop availabe.

Neyyar Dam Trip - Part 2, Lion Safari Park

This is the second part of the Neyyar Dam trip. Find the first post here.

We started the trip to Safari park from Neyyar Dam at 2:30pm. Previously the Safari Park trip was on the boat, but this time it was on the bus. The bus can accommodate 23 tourist. The journey through the boat is more as we cruise through the reservoir. The bus took us to the heart of the jungle. There we saw lots of Lion. To be precise one lion and three lioness. It is the perfect place if any one wants to see lion so closely. Below are the snaps. After visiting the Safari park we went to the Crocodile Park, find the snaps in the next post.

Neyyar Dam Trip - Part 1

As me and my wife planned to go for an outing we always know that Neyyar Dam is a nice place. We planned to visit Neyyar Dam on 25 Jul 2010. It was a Sunday. After attending the morning service at church we got ready for the trip. We started the trip at around 12 noon. We reached Neyyar Dam at around 1pm. We reached via Balaramapuram-> Kattakada-> Neyyar Dam. As we know that there were very few restaurants out there we bought lunch from Kattakada. Its a business town on the way to Neyyar Dam.

The climate was too good. Even though we reached there at 1pm we didn't feel the hot. We went to the reception for taking the ticket for the Lion Safari park. The ticket cost Rs 40 per head. For visiting the Safari park a mini bus is arranged for the tourists. It took us to the heart of the jungle. More about Lion Safari Park  & Crocodile park in the next post. We reached back from the Safari Park and went to see the Dam. The view of the Dam was so good.

There is small tower near by the Dam. From there we can get an overall view of the Dam and the park. The park in the Dam is good. Its a good place to be there with the family. Its a calm and cool atmosphere. A swimming pool is available in the park. As we take a close look at the Dam, we can see that it has started showing its age. Overall its a nice place for a one day outing.
